What is a Heel Hook?
The Heel Hook is a leg-lock submission which isolates the opponent’s femur while applying dynamic twisting pressure to the tibia, and applying damaging pressure to the Collateral and Cruciate ligaments, Meniscus and Ankle. It is commonly used today in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Russian Sambo, and other forms of submission grappling.
It has two major variations:
